Seriously, I don’t know where I stand on the Gordon issue. But I do know the Vets messed up majorly on Santo. The wife was so mad about it she even swore.

Some may consider Joe Gordon as the best 2B of his time, but many others will take Bobby Doerr. Joe was acrobatic, but Doerr had the consecutive chances w/o an error mark at 2B for years and has the 2nd best DPs per game avg to Bill Mazeroski. Doerr had 6 100 RBI years to 4 for Joe and Doerr’s lifetime BA was .288.
Doerr had lifetime fielding avg of .980 to Gordon’s .970. 1940s greatest baseball arguement was who was better…Doerr or Gordon.
