CLUKE says...

Yeah, Bret “101 OPS+” Boone is just like Joe Gordon and his 120 OPS+.And of course, Bret Boone missed two prime years because of WWII, just like Gordon.Boone was the best defensive 2B of his time, just like Gordon.,Boone was a member of many championship teams, just like Gordon.

From the Baseball Zealot!!!
Go Joe G!!! (It's about time)
Now having said that I'm still in favor of Santo getting in.

"Joe was a ten time All Star, even was selected once as MVP, despite Ted Williams winning the Triple Crown that same year. Even though he was acknowledged the best keystone man of his day..."

way to make your argument there buddy. :)

Seriously, I don't know where I stand on the Gordon issue. But I do know the Vets messed up majorly on Santo. The wife was so mad about it she even swore.

The wife doesn't swear ever.

Some may consider Joe Gordon as the best 2B of his time, but many others will take Bobby Doerr. Joe was acrobatic, but Doerr had the consecutive chances w/o an error mark at 2B for years and has the 2nd best DPs per game avg to Bill Mazeroski. Doerr had 6 100 RBI years to 4 for Joe and Doerr's lifetime BA was .288.
Doerr had lifetime fielding avg of .980 to Gordon's .970. 1940s greatest baseball arguement was who was better...Doerr or Gordon.
