Tuesday night the Illini fell to the Missouri Tigers 12-5. For those scoring at home, this does not affect their Big Ten record and therefore their fight to make the Big Ten Tournament is unaffected, at least standings-wise. I’m sure the Illini would have liked to go into the last regular season series of the year with a win.

That said, the team can take a little solace in the fact that they were facing a pretty tough team. Mizzou was ranked #17 going into the game.

Ryan Hastings was 3 for 4 but with no runs or rbis. Lars Davis cranked a homer and was 2 for 4 with a run and 2 rbis. Brandon Wikoff continues to produce going 2 for 2 with 3 runs (he had help with 2 walks).

Up next: It’s the big series with Michigan State to determine who goes to the Big Ten tournament. Coach Hartleb says they’ll be ready:

“Our guys will be focused and ready to go for the weekend,” Hartleb said. “Win or lose, you have to put the last game behind you and look toward the next.”
